YOU DESERVE TO FEEL HELD, TOO
Taking care of yourself doesn't mean me
first, it means me too. – L.R. Knost
Step 3: Use Your NDIS Support for You Too
If you’re an NDIS participant or carer
working within the system, you’ve probably
become a professional juggler. But
nurturing can exist here, too. Use that
support worker time to go for a walk, take a
breather, or work on a hobby. Ask your plan
manager or support coordinator about
therapies that nurture your wellbeing—art
therapy, music, gardening, or social
connection groups. These are valid, funded
supports for a reason.
You hold so much—emotionally, mentally,
logistically. It’s no wonder you feel
exhausted sometimes.
But you don’t have to carry it all without
care for yourself. This month, I want you to
nurture the nurturer. Even if it’s just five
minutes. You’re allowed. You’re worthy. And
it starts with one small yes to yourself.
Step 4: Reconnect With Your Joy
When was the last time you felt joy just for
you? Not pride in someone else’s progress,
not relief that an appointment went well—
joy. Joy is part of nurturing. It might be as
simple as listening to your favourite
audiobook, dancing in the kitchen, or
planting a herb garden. Whatever lights you
up—go toward it.
