NURTURING ISN’T SELFISH.
IT’S SACRED.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over my years of healing and guiding women—it’s that nurturing
isn’t just something we do for others. It’s something we must learn to do for ourselves. Yet for
many women, especially those of us who’ve spent decades caring for families, partners, careers,
and communities, nurturing ourselves feels unfamiliar… even uncomfortable.
I get it. I was once that woman too. Always showing up for others, giving all of me to make sure
everyone else was okay—while silently feeling disconnected, exhausted, and lost in my own body. It
wasn’t until I faced one of the biggest challenges of my life—a hysterectomy after a cancer
diagnosis—that I realised how vital it was to turn that nurturing energy inward.
You cannot pour from an empty cup—especially if you’ve
forgotten you deserve to drink first.
You see, healing doesn’t just happen on a physical level. It’s not
just about the scars you can see. The emotional layers run deep.
After the surgery, I felt like I’d lost a part of my womanhood.
There were days I didn’t recognise myself in the mirror. I grieved. I
doubted. I raged. But in the quiet moments, I also began to listen.
And what I heard was this: it’s time to mother yourself now.
Nurturing the woman within means holding space for all the
versions of you that have existed—the young girl who was hurt, the
woman who gave too much, the mother who sacrificed, the
partner who stayed quiet, the soul who forgot her power.
